Pablo and Danny SOS ADOPTED!!!!

Pablo - SOS Jan 2010Danny - SOS Jan 2010

WONDERFUL NEWS - AFTER BEING WITH US FOR 13 MONTHS, PABLO AND DANNY WERE ADOPTED IN JANUARY 2011.  THEY HAVE SETTLED IN WELL WITH THEIR NEW OWNERS AND NEW FELINE FRIEND.

Pablo and Danny both came to the Shelter in December.  Venus, another of our SOS cats, is mum to them both, but Pablo was from an earlier litter.  They have lived outside since birth and are therefore very wary of people.  Pablo is about 2 years old and Danny is 5 months old.   They have been at the shelter over a month and during that period staff and volunteers have managed to gain their trust, and they are both calmer around people. They even allow themselves to the stroked, although reluctantly at the moment.  Pablo tends to skip away, but Danny will be picked up and held (although he tries to hide under your arm).  Pablo and Danny are looking for a new home together with no young children and a owner who is dedicated and patient with them.  It will take some time for them to become confident, therefore an owner who is used to being around timid cats would be ideal.

UPDATE: Pablo and Danny are still waiting patiently with us.  Despite still being wary of humans, they have become incredibly inquisitive and playful.  They will often come to the reception window to check out what the staff are up to and we can regularly hear ping pong balls boinging around the room when they think no-one is around.  Here are some recent photos.  If you think you have a quiet, patient home where they can progress in their own good time, then please call in to have a chat with us about them and to meet them.

MIA SOS June 2010

20/07/2010 - What a pleasure to report that Mia has worked her charms and found herself a lovely new home.

This is our beautiful Mia.  She has been at the shelter for a few months now and is ready to find that special someone to take her home.  Unfortunately not many visitors have been able to meet Mia as she doesn't like the other cats much and therefore doesn't get out to be seen much unless it is a nice day and she can relax in our garden.  We are sure that she'll soon be snapped up when she does meet the right person though as she is lovely.

She is only 4 years old and has got a lot of character; she has a very curious nature and is growing bored of life at the shelter. She enjoys her freedom and space, but also appreciates company and affection from people.

Mia has lived with children before but would be more suitable for a home with older children. She does not get along well with other cats or dogs so would benefit from being the only pet in the house.  If you think you could provide Mia with the perfect home, why not come pay her a visit.  You won't be disappointed.

DUSTY SOS May 2010

This affectionate old boy needs a special someone to give him the time and attention he is craving. He is 12 years old and at his age he just wants to have his own space with someone who will love him to bits. He was brought to the shelter in February because his owners were moving house and were unable to keep him. Since being at the shelter he has missed the one to one attention he would get from being in a home environment. As a result to this he is suffering from anxiety and stress, which is causing him pull out his fur. He is in desperate need of a loving settled home. He would need a home with no young children or other pets, so that he can be the centre of attention.

You'll see from his photo below that he loves to be cuddled and it is the only time he stays still long enough for a photograph! A thoroughly lovely boy.

Tibby SOS February 2010

This is Tibby.

Tibby SOS Feb 2010

24/07/2010 - We are delighted to report that Tibby has spent the day settling into his new foster home!  We were thrilled when one of our supporters offered to give Tibby a second chance and we can't wait to hear how things are going.  With heartfelt thanks to David.

He is a very loveable character who is 11 and a half years old.  He has been with us some weeks but has not been available before as he has diabetes and we have being stabilising his condition before he goes to a new home.  Due to his condition we are looking for an experienced owner to foster Tibby long-term.  Fostering means that Tibby's day to day needs (mainly lots of love and attention) are provided by the fosterer, but the Cats Shelter will meet the costs of his medical treatment.  He needs a very dedicated owner who can ensure he gets the insulin he requires twice a day, everyday.  We are hopeful that his dependence on insulin will subside, but in the short term we expect he will need regular monitoring.

Tibby needs a home with no young children or other pets, where he will get lots of love and affection.  If you would like to meet Tibby and learn more about his condition, then do please call in any afternoon between 1:30 and 3:30 for a chat.
