In order for us to continue to provide high quality care we need to raise money to pay our bills. In addition to the usual bills, there is each year the cost of veterinary treatment of over £80,000, the cost of providing 20,000 tins of cat food, not to mention the amount of cat litter we get through and the cost of its hygienic disposal!
Over three quarters of our income goes directly to caring for the cats and kittens. The rest covers building costs, professional fees and fundraising. We receive no government or local authority support and rely totally on voluntary contributions, various fundraising activities of our members, money raised from adoptions, membership and legacies. There are also several events throughout the year that help raise much needed funds.
There are many ways you can help us to raise money and support our work:-
If you are self-employed, or manage a company, you can support us whilst gaining benefits for your business. Organisations can achieve enhanced brand value by developing a positive relationship with our Charity. Your support will be recognised and helps to build trust and brand warmth, because of your engagement with us, as a well-established organisation.
Supporting the Sheffield Cats Shelter also fulfils Corporate Social Responsibility objectives, and not only brings a positive impact on your organisation, but can also provide an entire range of added value opportunities.

We are always pleased to hear from anyone willing to do a car boot sale on our behalf. We regularly rotate stock in our charity shop which can mean some items go unsold. We’re keen to make the most out of every kind donation we receive and running car boot sales is one way we do this. So let us know if any of the following appeal to you:-
- Collecting a number of boxes of mixed items from us and raising money solely for the shelter
- Paying a set amount for a box of mixed items for which you retain the car boot sale proceeds
- Selling a mixture of own items and our items and raising money solely for the shelter
There are lots of ways you can have fun whilst raising money for the cats and kittens. Bake sales, coffee mornings, car boot sale or sponsored events. However you’d like to help, email email@example.com and let us know!
By leaving a legacy to the Sheffield Cats Shelter you can help to provide for unwanted cats and kittens long into the future.
Legacies are a vital source of funding for us. Much of our work relies on the generous gifts that our supporters leave us in their wills. Many people never make a will because they presume that everything will automatically go to their families, but unfortunately this is not always the case. In this country two thirds of adults haven’t made a will even though writing one doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Once its done you can rest a little easier knowing that your wishes will be carried out.
So, after remembering your loved ones, please consider the cats and kittens at the shelter. However large or small the amount may be, you know that it will go towards helping a worthy cause.
If you would like to remember us in your will, please include the following details:-
The Sheffield Cats Shelter, Registered Charity Number 1172162
Address: 1 Travis Place, Broomhall, Sheffield, S10 2DB
This information is not intended to constitute legal advice. When making a will we recommend you seek professional advice to ensure your wishes are carried out.
