Boris - adopted 2008

When we visited the Shelter this weekend we spoke about Boris who we adopted in 2008, so thought this would be an ideal time to give another update and a couple of pictures. He is doing really well; like our other cat he is very pampered! We moved to a cottage in a rural area near Ripley last October and both the cats love it (we adopted Ribbons 'our other cat' from you many years ago). Both are still house cats, but they spend a lot of time watching the wildlife out of the window. At the moment the favourites are all the birds and our resident squirrels! Boris settled in his new home really well. He seems to settle really quickly and nothing seems to phase him, even travelling in his cat carrier he stands up all the way and tries to watch what's happening out of the car window.

He's a very chatty cat and his affection as increased over the year or so we have had him. He's cuddly and now loves sleeping in bed with me under the duvet, usually under my arm pit! He is also very playful, and as now started attacking feet.... giving them a quick claw or a nip.... before walking off purring. He still has his favourite toy, the bear on a string. We had to replace his old one and he still walks around with it in his mouth making some very high pitch squeaks. So he is really loved and everyone who meets him falls for his charms immediately.

We have been thinking about adopting again, so you never know we may decide to have a new addition(s?) in the near future. Below are a couple of pictures of Boris which have been taken recently

Sparky - adopted January 2010

Some of you will remember our lovely Sparky, who had been found in a very poor condition and was with us for many weeks until his health improved.  It was lovely to receive this up date and the wonderful photos.

Sparky has settled in well.  He has access to the back yard, but he is a home-loving cat and he only occasionally forays outside, though as the weather warms up he may be a bit more adventurous.  He has already proved himself an excellent mouser, we will see how he gets on with the local birds when they start nesting! But in general Sparky is very well behaved, affectionate and he tolerates
visitors well.  Warmth, food and company are all he seems to want.

Andrew

Bella and Jasper adopted 2009

Dear Cat Shelter,

We thought we would give you a quick update on Leila and Richard, now Bella And Jasper.
They both settled into their new home very quickly and it is safe to say now rule the roost, they have even taken over our bed!!! (Hmm - not much room for the humans! - Ed) Bella is a very loving little girl and would like nothing better than to spend all day giving us lots of kisses and cuddles. Jasper is much more independent and causes mischief where ever he goes we even caught him on top of the loft ladders once. Although Bella gets up to lots of mischief too we often lose her for hours and eventually find her fast asleep in the wardrobe. They are both very greedy and would now be very big if they had their way. They both like to tease our other cats sunny and charlie and its safe to say they have brightened up our home since they came to live with us. We love them very much and wouldn't change them for the world.
Thank you for everything you did for them when they were kittens we are so glad we were able to give them a happy and healthy home.
Lots of love,

Bella, Jasper, Sunny, Charlie, (oh and Rochelle and Anthony)

Desmo and Styx (formerly Gucci and Armani)

Hello everyone!!!

You guys might remember these two terrors as Gucci and Armani, but they were renamed to Desmo and Styx, Des is the gorgeous black cat and styx the beautiful fluffy female. Both are getting on really well and we have had them 2 years now. Styx has developed a heart murmur but it doest effect her at all, but Des is fighting fit and both are always full of beans and so cheeky. Ive sent a picture of Des in the snow, he absolutely loves it but Styx hates it, however complete turnaround with fire-works, Styx sits at the window and watches them, but Des hides. Ive included a few pics of them, mind you i can never get them in on the same one, they really do bicker like brother and sister!

Cleo (formerly Twinkle) adopted Jan 2010

Twinkle came to the shelter having become separated from her mum and litter mates.  She was far too tiny to be left on her own, so a foster friend (thank you Helen) stepped in to take care of her until she was big enough to be rehomed.

Hi All at the Cat Shelter,
We want to let you know what a lovely time we are having with our beautiful little cat Cleo. (AKA Queen Cleopatra, Mistress of all she Surveys), formerly known as Twinkle.   We adopted her on 12th January in the middle of all the snow, and she has really brightened up the winter for us: she has settled in brilliantly, does everything you'd expect in all the right places and even sometimes scratches on her scratching post!  She loves to play and to be in company, and also loves to sit next to us on the sofa in a cosy way.  Her purring motor is in constant use and she adores a big stroking session!   She has quickly found warm spots in the house for her daytime catnaps, and has also identified the best places for looking out of the window at the birds....Everyone who sees her marvels at her beauty and we think she enjoys this adoration!

Even though she has been with us for only a couple of weeks, she is already a member of the family: we are really thrilled to have her; thank you so much for letting us adopt her.  We look forward to lots
more fun with Cleo and will keep you posted.

Here are some photos. with warm wishes, Caroline and Rachel

Felix - Fostered February 2010

This is Felix.  Felix is a dear little soul who came to us with poorly paws and terrible gingivitis.  Because of the need to monitor his condition over the next few months, we decided to seek a long-term foster home for him.  Well it wasn't long before he caught the eye of a friend of the shelter and he duly went home for some well-deserved love and attention.  As you can see from the photos - he has made himself right at home!

For information on our fostering programme, please see our fostering page.  If you are interested in becoming a short or long-term fosterer, please contact the shelter between 1:30 and 3:30 any afternoon and we will be pleased to tell you how it works and who might be seeking a foster placement.

George (was Gaffe) adopted January 2010

We have just received greetings from a very special little boy that was adopted in January this year...

As you can see I've settled in very well! I have a new big brother called Basil (that's him on the chair with me (ginger and white)). He's fun and we play a lot - he chases me, I chase him back, we roll around and then we snuggle up together as you can see. He's my new best friend and I know the feeling is mutual. I have also learnt how to sleep like humans do - it's really comfortable! Thank you to everyone at the Shelter for looking after me after I came in with a broken pelvis. I have pretty much been given a clean bill of health now and been told to do lots of exercise to build up the muscles - the running around with Basil is certainly taking care of that!

Nora - adopted October 2009

Hi,

We adopted Nora in October and she very quickly became a member of our family. She always wants to be around us and follows us from room to room to keep an eye on us. Every morning she wakes mum up to get breakfast by sitting on her head!  She is a little reluctant to go outside but was very interested by the snow. Hopefully when the weather is better she will go out a bit more. Luckily she' s not bothered about the hamsters but we sometimes catch her watching them.

I took a couple of pictures of her over Christmas which are attached.

Thank you for Nora!!!
