Polly and Katty are a wonderful pair of cats who where brought to the shelter in November last year after their owner passed away. They are truly an odd couple.
Polly is a 12 years old persian who just loves to spend as much time as possible nestling on your lap. She is very laid back and gets along with everyone. Due to her age Polly is on a special diet to help with the functon of her kidneys, she also has polyps in her ears but the vet has advised that they do not require treatment at the moment, just a clean now and again.
Katty is only 2 years old and has a lot more energy so is always looking for someone to play with, she can sometimes nip when she gets over excited. Katty is quite jealous as Polly has clearly had all the attention in the past and poor Katty has never managed to get any lap space.
Polly and Katty are looking for a home together where they will both be equally loved for ther individual characters however different they may be. A two-lap home would be ideal, as Katty would benefit from much more attention so that she doesn't feel left out.
Because Katty can be unpredictable on occasion, we are looking for a home without children and also with no other cats that will compete for attention.

This is Tibby.
He is a very loveable character who is 11 and a half years old. He has been with us some weeks but has not been available before as he has diabetes and we have being stabilising his condition before he goes to a new home. Due to his condition we are looking for an experienced owner to foster Tibby long-term. Fostering means that Tibby's day to day needs (mainly lots of love and attention) are provided by the fosterer, but the Cats Shelter will meet the costs of his medical treatment. He needs a very dedicated owner who can ensure he gets the insulin he requires twice a day, everyday. We are hopeful that his dependence on insulin will subside, but in the short term we expect he will need regular monitoring.
Tibby needs a home with no young children or other pets, where he will get lots of love and affection. If you would like to meet Tibby and learn more about his condition, then do please call in any afternoon between 1:30 and 3:30 for a chat.
Our lovely Hobo was chosen by a new family on 13 February and we hear he is settling in very well. He even has another friend from the shelter to join him, so we've no doubt he will have lots of fun and attention.
This is Hobo. He is about two years old and was brought to the Cats Shelter in November last year after being a stray for quite a while. He is a very independant cat who likes to left to his own devices.
Due to his independent nature, he quickly tires of being given affection and when he has had enough of being stroked he lets you know with a cheeky bite. For that reason we are looking for an adult only home for him, as he would not be suitable to be homed with children. He does get along with other cats. Hobo is looking for a relaxed home where he can be left to do his own thing, until feeding time that is when he becomes very affectionate.

This is Venus. As you can see, she likes to hide away from people. Venus was brought to the shelter last month after living outside for some years. When she first arrived at the shelter she was very scared and was unsure about her new surrounding and all the attention from people. Venus still hides away from visitors but is making progress day by day and gradually learning to trust people. We believe she is about 3 years old and is in need of a quiet calm home with no young children. She needs an owner who will be patient with her and has lots of time to spend with her. Venus must also have the company of another confident cat as she is used to their company and observing the confident behaviour of another cat will help her develop confidence around people. This could be an owner's existing cat or another cat from the shelter.

This is Pablo and Danny.
Pablo and Danny both came to the Shelter in December. Venus, another of our SOS cats, is mum to them both, but Pablo was from an earlier litter. They have lived outside since birth and are therefore very wary of people. Pablo is about 2 years old and Danny is 5 months old. They have been at the shelter over a month and during that period staff and volunteers have managed to gain their trust, and they are both calmer around people. They even allow themselves to the stroked, although reluctantly at the moment. Pablo tends to skip away, but Danny will be picked up and held (although he tries to hide under your arm). Pablo and Danny are looking for a new home together with no young children and a owner who is dedicated and patient with them. It will take some time for them to become confident, therefore an owner who is used to being around timid cats would be ideal.
SPARKY
SPARKY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Sparky's health has improved steadily over the last few months and as he has started to feel better he has become much clamer and friendlier. He has now found a wonderful permanent home, with just a few check ups needed on his feet from time to time. We look forward to hearing how he has settled into his new home.
Sparky was brought to the shelter in a very poor condition indeed. He had cat flu, having lived rough for some time, and he also has a very rare disorder with his feet, which causes his paws to become enlarged and sore. After treatment and some tender loving care sparky is very much on the mend and is a real cheeky character at the shelter. However, he may need treatment for some time to come for his paws. We will therefore consider a foster placement for him until we can stabilise his condition - for more information about fostering, please see our fostering page.
Sparky is about 7 years old and become very affectionate over the last few weeks. He is however still a little unpredictable and can claw at you. For this reason he would not be suitable for a home with children. He also gets very jealous as he craves all the attention when around people, so any other cat that are around would not get a look in!
If you would like to learn more about his condition and his sweet nature, please call in any afternoon between 1:30 and 3:30 or give the warden a ring on 2724441 between those times.
We were all over the moon when a very special person came in to meet Hubble and decided to offer her a new home. Hubble had been an SOS cat for 4 months and her SOS page was read by nearly 1,000 people before the right person came along. We hear that Hubble (now Suki) has settled in really well and is having a wonderful time being the centre of attention (January 2010)
Hi, I'm Hubble. I’m a bit of a shy cat at first but once I've got used to you I do like a good fuss. I don’t like other cats so I need a home where I'd be the only pet. I am 10 years old and I’m used to going to the toilet outside so need a home with a garden, as I don't like to use the litter tray indoors. I’m an old cat set in her ways. I do need a calm, quiet home with someone who will be patient with me a give me lots of attention.
