September has been a great month for the Cats Shelter, with 27 adoptions we have had many happy endings this month. Phi finally found a new home and has settled in really well with her new owners who could not understand why she had not been adopted sooner. Phi had been at the shelter for 11 months waiting for the right people to come along. Lily was another one of the shelter’s SOS cat who found a new home this month after being at the shelter for nearly 6 months. And timid little Mary was also adopted with a very friendly cat called Bingo. Both cats have soon settled into their new home and follow each other everywhere. Mary is now so confident she will jump on her owner’s knee and let her stroke her.
We had some very sad news this month about one of our much loved foster cats Tibby. He sadly passed away whilst in his home after battling with diabetes for two years. He was a true character with lots of fight in him. He loved the simple things in life like a warm bed and a tasty meal. He enjoyed playing with his other foster companion sweep, chasing each other around the flat. He will be greatly missed by all the staff and most of all by his foster carer David Bull who gave him a very loving and caring home.
The shelter has many other cats like Tibby in foster homes where the shelter carries on paying for their vital treatment. To help raise money to fund the fostering scheme at the shelter we have a Tibby’s Treasures cabinet which sells high quality items for people to buy. All the money raised from the cabinet goes towards the ongoing cost of treatment for the foster cats. Tibby’s Treasures will be a lasting memory of Tibby and will help many other cats like him in the future.
A new arrival to the shelter this month was Hank, a gorgeous tabby brought to us by Springfield vets. Hank had been found by a member of the public and taken to the vets with a very sore and infected wound on his tail. The vets were concerned that the tip of his tail would have to be amputated due to the infection of the wound.

Every month the Sheffield Cat Shelter sells many donated items on e-bay and Amazon. Over the last 4 weeks the shelter has recieved £285 from e-bay and £168 from Amazon. With the extra paypal donations and money from community sales the shelter has obtained a total of £502 this month through the shelters e-fund raising schemes. This is a great achievement and a great way to raise money for the shelter.
Thanks to everyone who has kindly donated books and quality items to sell on e-Bay and Amazon in our Sheffield Cats Shelter shop. A big thank you to Jane Patterson who works hard to update the e-bay and Amazon shop with new quality items. Thank you to those people who have donated money from e-Bay community sales and to those who gave via paypal. To see what goods are currently on offer please click on the e-bay and Amazon buttons.
