The shelter has found new homes for 29 cats/kittens this month and has a grand total of 200 cats and kittens re-homed this year so far. Burt and Bertha found a loving new home this month, they were two kittens living in the attic of a funeral directors. They were very timid when they first arrived at the shelter but they had slowly become more confident around people. They have settled in well to their new home, you can see a picture of them on our adopters letter's page. Our SOS kitten Luna also found a new home this month and we look forward to finding out how she has settled in.
Pooh and Eeyore were two new arrivals to the shelter this month. Pooh is a young kittens who was found as a stray in poor condition and taken to Highfield vets. She was suffering badly from aneamia due to flea's and also had worms which were causing bad diarrhoea. Once treated for the parasites and put on a drip she was soon showing signs of improvement and was able to come back to the shelter with Eeyore who was another kitten abandoned at the vets the same day. These two kittens soon settled in at the shelter and they have now found new homes.
Our number one SOS cat Phi is still searching for a new home, and has been at the shelter for nearly a year now. She came to us in October 2010 and urgently needs a new home. She spends her days in the garden at the shelter because she doesn't like the other cats, she enjoys trotting around the garden and greeting anyone who goes to see her. She even has her own little kennel outside now to keep her dry during the days when it is raining. But with winter on it's way she will no longer enjoy spending her days outside and will not have the stimulation of the outdoors to enjoy. Phi is a lovable character who knows what she wants and will soon tell you when she has had enough of being stroked. She has a real quirky nature and stands out from all the other cats. She is just waiting for the right person to come along and take her home.
UPDATE: Phi was adopted on saturday 17th Sept and is now very happy in her new home.
