Helping

Volunteer driver

If you could help with transporting the Shelter stall to or from fargate from time to time, we would love to hear from you. We usually have four stalls throughout the year, drop off time in town is 10 am and pick-up time is 4pm - so if you could help out at either end of the day, please give me a call on 2759223 and I will get back to you. Elaine

Food Appeal

We always welcome donations of tinned cat meat (or trays / sachets). We no longer have a collecting bin at Waitrose (old Safeways), so stocks are very depleted at the moment. We do however now have sufficient stocks of cat biscuits - so thanks to everyone who has brought some in over the last few months. It is much appreciated.

Lend a Hand

We rely heavily on voluntary help in caring for the cats and cleaning the cat rooms etc. If you are over 14, live in the Sheffield area and can help out, then please get in touch with the wardens at the shelter on (0114) 272 4441 any afternoon between 1.30 and 4 pm.

Have a look at the FAQ page for more detals about becoming a volunteer.

Fund us

In order for the charity to provide this high quality care we need to raise money to pay our bills. In addition to the usual bills, there is each year the cost of veterinary treatment of over £40,000, the cost of providing 16,000 tins of cat food, not to mention the amount of cat litter we get through and the cost of its hygienic disposal! Over three quarters of our income goes directly to caring for the cats and kittens. Only 2% of our income is spent on administration. The rest covers building costs, professional fees and fundraising. We receive no government or local authority support and rely totally on voluntary contributions, various fundraising activities of our members, money raised from adoptions, membership and legacies. There are several events throughout the year that help raise much needed funds, flag days, Open Day, Christmas Fayre and a number of publicity stalls all make their contribution.

Please have a look at our Fundraising page to know more about ways to fund the Shelter!

Become a Member

For a small annual subscription you will receive our newsletters which keeps members in touch with what's happening at the shelter. You can print out the membership form (it will open in a new page), fill it in and send it to us with your subscription and any donation. Or if you live locally, call in at the shelter during opening hours or come along to one of our forthcoming events.

Make a donation

Donations can be made at the shelter during opening hours, or by sending a cheque, made payable to "The Sheffield Cats Shelter" or by arranging a standing order or by Gift Aid (donors can email, write or phone for appropriate forms). £5 keeps a cat or kitten for a week. £15 enables a cat to be vaccinated against cat flu / feline enteritis and leukaemia. £25 would prevent the misery of further unwanted kittens by paying to spay/neuter a cat. £120 would pay for us to care for and rehome one cat or kitten.

Remember the Sheffield Cats Shelter in your will

Many people who cannot afford to donate to the charity during their lifetime like to include the charity amongst the beneficiaries of their estates. Legacies give us the opportunity to do 'special' things such as our centenary refurbishment and help to guarantee the long term future of the shelter.
