Feline Fun Run - 2nd June, Rother Valley Country Park

Join us to raise money for the Sheffield Cats Shelter on Saturday 2nd June 2012 to run, jog or walk 5K around Rother Valley Country Park.

Time- Race will start at 11am; registration will be at 10:30 am

Rother Valley Country Park is located on the borders of Yorkshire and Derbyshire, near the towns of Rotherham, Chesterfield and Worksop and the city of Sheffield. View more information online at- http://www.rothervalleycountrypark.co.uk/  The run will start and finish on the green, located near the cafe and toilets.  

Directions to get to the park are: Junction 31 off the M1 motorway, A57 towards Sheffield, the park is located off the A618 (Mansfield Road) between Wales bar and Killamarsh. Follow the brown signs.

Race Entry 

To take part in The Sheffield Cats Shelter Feline Fun Run, there is an entry fee of £5 for each adult, 16’s and under can enter for free. The entry fee covers the cost of organising and running the event on the day, which means every pound you raise in sponsorship, will help the Cats Shelter. To enter please fill in a registration form which you can download at the bottom of this page or contact Kim Steele at the Cats Shelter for a form sending in the post.

On the day 

The 5K run will start at 11am, people are welcome to run, walk or jog around the park there are no time restrictions, and dogs are also welcome to take part. Registration for the run will begin at 10:30am on the green, located behind the toilet facilities.

The cat shelter stall will be set up from 10:30am-3:00pm for anyone wanting to buy a treat for their feline friends or a souvenir for the day. There will also be a fun cat tombola and a hand made gift stall along with free refreshments available for people taking part in the run.

Each entrant will receive a discount voucher to use in Sweatshop in Meadowhall http://www.sweatshop.co.uk , and there is also an opportunity to join a running club to help train for the event. 

There will be a prize for the best fancy dress for the day, so feel free to dress up in any outfit that you would like, whether you are running or walking.

There will also be prizes for the people who finish in first, second or third place after completing the 5k race. If you’re not much of a runner you may get chance to win a prize for raising the most sponsorship money.

Parking and Transport

There is a large car park at Rother Valley Country Park with enough parking for everyone involved in the day’s event. There is a parking charge of £3.00 per car for the days parking.

Tram routes to Rother Valley are-Blue route Halfway tram from Sheffield Catch the tram indicating Halfway from Sheffield, get off the tram at Waterthorpe near Westfield School and Direct Cars.From the tram stop the Park is a 1 mile walk. Walk towards Direct Cars from the tramstop, at the traffic lights and opposite Direct Cars turn left (leaving Direct Cars on your right) walk down Owlthrope Greenway to the end to Grant and McAlin Cars. Turn left on Rother Valley Way, you will see a public right of way on the right towards Rother Valley Country Park follow the signs into the park.Bus services to Rother Valley Country Park include- 30, 25, 70, 251 / 271 Bus Routes
