We got Charlie and Fudge from you at the beginning of 2007, although I
had fallen madly in love with Charlie the October before. As soon as we
got them home it was as if they had been there forever. There was no
settling in time needed, they were at home immediately. Although they
had been very close at the shelter they have both drifted apart a little
now, i guess that is because we have another six cats for them to spend
time with, and they are happier spending their time with humans
(although Charlie is good friends with our big black cat, Marvin and our
very pretty Maine Coon girl, Kaloulie)
We love them both so much and are so happy that they are in our lives.
Fudge is a wonderful old, ginger lady, who must have been amazingly
beautiful in her younger days as she is still stunning now. She can't
meow, bless her, but when she knows that you are looking right at her
she will sometimes open her mouth wide, even though no sound will come
out.
Don't worry though she always makes herself understood. If she wants a
cuddle then she will sit next to you, pat you with her paw and look at
you with her big beautiful eyes. As you can imagine she always gets
what she wants and no-one has ever turned her request for a cuddle down.
She is quite lazy in her old age though and sometimes if she doesn't
want to make the grand effort of walking to you so that she can pat you,
she will just raise her paw and pat the air in your direction - again an
irrestible beckoning. She is the ruler of our little cat colony and is
very well respected, especially by our two puppies who know not to mess
with her Royal Fudgeness.
When we got Fudgey she was quite a raggedy little skinny thing with a
little bald patch due to her severe flea allergy. She has a very
healthy coat now and she isn't skinny anymore, infact I'm trying to
think of a nicer word for it, but no she is just fat. We have taken her
to the vets several times thinking that something must be wrong with her
as we've been very careful with what we feed her and yet still she is
starting to look like she has eaten a rugby ball. The vets and we were
non-plussed until this evening when we saw her leaving a neighbour's
house licking her lips. Clearly she is being irresistible with others
too! We are going to put a little note on her collar tag saying
"Please don't feed me, I'm dieting!"
Anyway that is our Fudge, a beautiful, wonderful Lady with a captivating
heart and an incredible purr. Thank you Cats Shelter for letting her
into our lives.
Charlie, my most beautiful, incredible darling Charlie, came with home
to us with Fudge. I can not put into words how much I love Charlie. He
is the most wonderful cat and he and I have a very strong cat-person
bond. You know sometimes when you are on a first date and your hand
touches theirs by mistake and you get that little electric buzz, its
like that with Charlie when he puts his paw on my shoulder. He is
perfect.
I know that I can always rely on Charlie to be there for me. Whenever I
am feeling low he is there, if I'm in pain, he is there, if I need a
cuddle, he is there, if I'm poorly, he is there, if I just wonder for a
minute where he is, he is there.
I love him completely.
Charlie is wonderful and I would be lost without him. I feel like we've
been together for so long, not just four months. He has filled the hole
in my heart that my first two cats left when they died, that I didn't
think anything could ever be filled.
I love all my animals very much, even my husband :-) , but my goodness
me Charlie is special.
I have attached a picture of Charlie at his most charming, we have to
wait till Fudgey looses a little bit of weight before she lets us send
in a picture of her; you know how girls are about their weight x
Thank you again Cats Shelter and a warm purr and pat from Fudge and a
great big cuddle from Charlie.
