Charlie - adopted July 2009

Hello to everyone at The Sheffield Cats Shelter,

As we’ve just had our first anniversary with Charlie, we thought we’d write and tell you all how he’s getting on. Having Charlie with us has been a dream come true for the whole household. He is unbelievably loving and affectionate. He is happiest creeping into our bed in the middle of the night, and falling asleep snuggled up to us, even though he has two baskets in our bedroom alone.

For a seventeen year old, he is still surprisingly agile, storming up the and down the stairs when it’s treat time. He recently had an MOT at the vets, in which we found out that he is still in really good health for his age. His baby brother seems to think that he is a fellow two year old, and often tries to get Charlie to play, and whilst he mostly declines, on the odd occasion he has been known to hold his own (especially after a sniff of cat nip!).

Whilst Charlie may cost us a lot in cat food (he has developed expensive tastes) he has saved us a fortune in alarm clock batteries. Every morning as soon as dawn approaches, Charlie begins to believe he’s a rooster, and crows with the best of them. The only thing that will quieten him is a fresh bowl of food, in which he promptly devours and falls back to sleep long before we do. The only other time he makes that much noise is when he’s ventured outside for a moment before rushing back in and howling his excitement at us.

Having enchanted us (and all extended family) we couldn’t imagine life without him. We can’t thank The Sheffield Cats Shelter enough for keeping him safe and well until he found us. Adopting him is one of the best things we will ever do.

Thank you so much, love from Cheryl, Gary, Mew Ferrigno and Charlie xxx
