Charlie - adopted July 2009

Hello to everybody at The Sheffield Cat Shelter,

We are not only writing to let you all know how Charlie is getting on, but to thank you all for looking after him until we could bring him into our home. As a volunteer at the shelter, I fell in love with Charlie the first time he crawled onto my knee and touched my nose with his. After three weeks of ‘subtle hints’, my partner Gary drove us to the shelter to collect him and we’ve never looked back. We live in a flat with our other cat Mew Ferrigno, and we were worried that we wouldn’t have the room for two cats. To anybody in the same position, we’d advise you to go for it 100%! Since coming home with us, Charlie has transformed completely. He has become so vocal, whether he’s greeting us or demanding a share of our dinner, he has commandeered almost every available surface in the flat, he enjoys nothing more than sharing our pillows at night, and he follows Mew Ferrigno around the flat, settling down wherever he does.

His appetite appears to be growing daily, along with his demand for his favourite foods, including fresh turkey, chicken and fish.  He is even enjoying a ritual night feed, in which he finds it necessary to announce he’s finished by coming into the bedroom at around 3.00am and wailing at the top of his voice before climbing into his basket and falling straight asleep. He may have become ‘slightly’ overindulged with us, but at 15 years old, we feel he deserves it!

The Sheffield Cat Shelter has done a fantastic job with Charlie, as they do with all the cats in their care. We want to thank them for all they did for Charlie before we brought him home with us. For anybody who is thinking of getting a cat from here, please do it. There are so many deserving cats who would love a good home.

Thank you to you all, love from Cheryl, Gary, Mew Ferrigno and Charlie xxx
