This is Pablo and Danny.
Pablo and Danny both came to the Shelter in December. Venus, another of our SOS cats, is mum to them both, but Pablo was from an earlier litter. They have lived outside since birth and are therefore very wary of people. Pablo is about 2 years old and Danny is 5 months old. They have been at the shelter over a month and during that period staff and volunteers have managed to gain their trust, and they are both calmer around people. They even allow themselves to the stroked, although reluctantly at the moment. Pablo tends to skip away, but Danny will be picked up and held (although he tries to hide under your arm). Pablo and Danny are looking for a new home together with no young children and a owner who is dedicated and patient with them. It will take some time for them to become confident, therefore an owner who is used to being around timid cats would be ideal.
UPDATE: Pablo and Danny are still waiting patiently with us. Despite still being wary of humans, they have become incredibly inquisitive and playful. They will often come to the reception window to check out what the staff are up to and we can regularly hear ping pong balls boinging around the room when they think no-one is around. Here are some recent photos. If you think you have a quiet, patient home where they can progress in their own good time, then please call in to have a chat with us about them and to meet them.

This timid little cat is Amber. She is 2 years old and is looking for a calm quiet home. She came to the shelter in May along with her two older kittens, who have now been re-homed. She is a nervous cat that would benefit from a calm home environment, as she finds the shelter a bit too noisy and busy. Due to her timid nature an adult only home, or one with older children, would be ideal for her. She is ok with other cats but tends to stay out of their way at the shelter.
We are looking for someone who would offer a foster home for Amber, with a view to adoption in about one month’s time. She is currently experiencing a problem with her left ear, which requires treatment. The Shelter will cover the cost of the ongoing treatment until the condition has cleared up. Therefore we are looking for an experienced cat owner who is confident at giving medication. If you are interested in fostering Amber and would like more information you can call the shelter and speak to one of the managers any day from 1pm – 4pm.

Sooty (Black and White male) and Della (Tabby female) are two very affectionate cats that crave love and attention from people. They arrived at the shelter in March along with two other cats that have since been re-homed. They are both 5 years old and need to go to a home together as they are used to living in a multi-cat household. The reason they have been at the shelter for some time is due to an ongoing problem with diarrhoea. The vets have investigated every possible cause and we have tried many treatments but nothing has helped them so far. We believe the diarrhoea could very well be caused by stress; they are very sensitive cats and we believe they are probably missing a home environment and missing the one to one attention they would get. We are therefore seeking a very special foster home for these two lovely cats whilst their condition stabilises, at which point they can be adopted by their foster carer. The benefits of fostering are that the Shelter will continue to provide all the medical care required, whilst the foster provides the love and attention they so richly deserve.
If you think you might be able to offer these two delightful young cats a suitable home, please come pay them a visit at the shelter. They are good with children and other cats and are used to going outdoors.

Flossie is a young energetic female who is desperate to find a new home and have more space to explore. She is only 1 year old and never seems to want to stop still; she is very playful and inquisitive. Flossie would suit a home with older children and would need to be the only cat in the house as she isn't very friendly towards other cats. She enjoys being outdoors and is quite an independent cat.
We haven't been able to show Flossie very well as she doesn't like being in the rooms with the other cats, but on nice days we like to get her out into our garden to burn some of that energy off and to meet visitors to the Shelter. If you would like to meet Flossie, please call in for a chat and a play with her during our normal opening hours.

This is our lovely Sooty - she is only 18 months old and is very loving and affectionate.
Sooty has been waiting patiently for a new home, having been at the shelter since February. She was found as a stray which probably explains her independent nature and great dislike towards her feline friends. Sooty had to have surgery on her left ear to remove an ear polyp, which means she is now deaf in that ear. The fur around her ear has now almost totally grown back and it no longer causes her irritation.
She has been overlooked for adoption as she keeps quietly out of the way when visitors come to look around, as the other cats are too boisterous and make her feel uncomfortable. She is however a dear little thing and would be suitable for a home with older children but would need to be the only cat in the house and she really doesn't get along well with other cats. She is used to being around small dogs. She does enjoy being outside and would make a great companion.
B.C and B.W are two cats in need of a loving settled home. They have been without a home for nearly a year and are desperate to find someone who will look after them. Their owner died last year and they have been cared for by the Cats Protection since September 2009. We arranged for them to come to us at the Sheffield Cats Shelter in March, where they would have the company of other cats and people could meet this lovely pair of cats in an indoor environment. They are very timid - the trauma and upset they have been through after losing their owner and home has left them with little confidence and very unsettled.
B.W (I prefer to call him Bert - Editor) is male and B.C (I prefer to call her Betty - Editor) is female, they have lived together all their lives and are very close. They are both 10 years old and are not used to being out near roads. We need to find a calm, quiet household for this lovely old pair. They would be suitable for a home with older children. They need someone who is very patient and who has the time and dedication to spend with them. They are great with other cats and love being stroked, they will purr for hours once they get started. If you think you are the perfect person for this beautiful pair, please pay them a visit at the Cats Shelter and meet them in person.
20/07/2010 - What a pleasure to report that Mia has worked her charms and found herself a lovely new home.
This is our beautiful Mia. She has been at the shelter for a few months now and is ready to find that special someone to take her home. Unfortunately not many visitors have been able to meet Mia as she doesn't like the other cats much and therefore doesn't get out to be seen much unless it is a nice day and she can relax in our garden. We are sure that she'll soon be snapped up when she does meet the right person though as she is lovely.
She is only 4 years old and has got a lot of character; she has a very curious nature and is growing bored of life at the shelter. She enjoys her freedom and space, but also appreciates company and affection from people.
Mia has lived with children before but would be more suitable for a home with older children. She does not get along well with other cats or dogs so would benefit from being the only pet in the house. If you think you could provide Mia with the perfect home, why not come pay her a visit. You won't be disappointed.
This affectionate old boy needs a special someone to give him the time and attention he is craving. He is 12 years old and at his age he just wants to have his own space with someone who will love him to bits. He was brought to the shelter in February because his owners were moving house and were unable to keep him. Since being at the shelter he has missed the one to one attention he would get from being in a home environment. As a result to this he is suffering from anxiety and stress, which is causing him pull out his fur. He is in desperate need of a loving settled home. He would need a home with no young children or other pets, so that he can be the centre of attention.
You'll see from his photo below that he loves to be cuddled and it is the only time he stays still long enough for a photograph! A thoroughly lovely boy.
This is Tibby.
24/07/2010 - We are delighted to report that Tibby has spent the day settling into his new foster home! We were thrilled when one of our supporters offered to give Tibby a second chance and we can't wait to hear how things are going. With heartfelt thanks to David.
He is a very loveable character who is 11 and a half years old. He has been with us some weeks but has not been available before as he has diabetes and we have being stabilising his condition before he goes to a new home. Due to his condition we are looking for an experienced owner to foster Tibby long-term. Fostering means that Tibby's day to day needs (mainly lots of love and attention) are provided by the fosterer, but the Cats Shelter will meet the costs of his medical treatment. He needs a very dedicated owner who can ensure he gets the insulin he requires twice a day, everyday. We are hopeful that his dependence on insulin will subside, but in the short term we expect he will need regular monitoring.
Tibby needs a home with no young children or other pets, where he will get lots of love and affection. If you would like to meet Tibby and learn more about his condition, then do please call in any afternoon between 1:30 and 3:30 for a chat.
